First Class Home Inspection

Buying a home is one of the biggest investments most people will ever make, and for Greg Stickel, owner of First Class Home Inspection, that belief is personal. Part of the reason Greg started his business came from his own experience as a homebuyer. During the inspection of a home he and his family purchased, a number of things were missed, and they did not fully understand the inspection process or how to best use the information they were given. Looking back, Greg realized how valuable it would have been to have someone explain not only what they were seeing, but what it meant, what should be addressed, what could be monitored, and how that information could help them make better decisions both before and after buying the home.

Greg also brought years of hands-on experience with him. He began building homes when he was just 16 years old and spent much of his career working directly in construction. After years of physically demanding work, his body was ready for a change, and home inspection felt like a natural next step. It allowed him to use the knowledge and experience he had built over the years while helping other buyers have a more informed experience than he and his family had when purchasing their own home.

One of the biggest misconceptions about a home inspection is that a house either passes or fails. That is not really the purpose of an inspection. Every home has something that may need to be maintained, monitored, repaired, or eventually replaced. The goal is to give buyers a clear understanding of the home so they can make informed decisions.

Before closing, that information can help buyers know what questions to ask, whether additional professional evaluations may be needed, and what items they may want to discuss during the negotiation process. The value of an inspection also continues long after the purchase. A good inspection report can become a roadmap for owning the home by helping homeowners understand which systems are aging, what maintenance should be prioritized, what should be monitored over time, and where they may need to plan for future expenses.

Having spent most of his life building and working on homes, Greg understands how the different parts of a house work together. His goal is not simply to hand someone a report, but to help them understand what they are looking at, why it matters, and what they may want to pay attention to moving forward. He encourages buyers to ask questions throughout the inspection so they leave with a better understanding of the home they are about to own.

As a husband, father, homeowner, and local business owner, Greg understands that a home is much more than a structure. It is where families build their lives, and for many people, it is their largest financial investment. First Class Home Inspection is built around helping buyers protect that investment through knowledge and education.

A home inspection is not about deciding whether a house is perfect. It is about understanding what is being purchased, knowing what may need attention, using that information wisely during the buying process, and having a better understanding of how to care for the home for years to come.
