Factory Street Reconstruction Project
Factory Street is one of downtown Watertown's prominent business sectors. Named for the small mills and factories which extended along the river, Factory Street is home to many local businesses including manufacturing, retail, restaurants, and an urban mission. The project reconstructed Factory Street from Mill Street to Huntington Street, a distance of about 2,600 feet (0.5 mile), as well as sections of side streets including Polk St, Mechanic St, and High St. The primary work conducted was a full-depth roadway, curb, and sidewalk reconstruction, generally from face of building to face of building on either side. Other work included sewer separation, water main replacement, traffic signal alterations, private utility relocations, as well as pedestrian/bicycle accessibility improvements, streetscape and landscaping features.
The project was completed in 2017.
